Pre-Kindergarten (4 to 5 years)
The Pre-Kindergarten class is an environment that encourages creativity and choice. The children learn through play in an enriched environment. The curriculum is based on themes.
Through each theme, the children are exposed to language, science, math, music, movement, dramatic play, small and large motor skills, social studies, and art. We provide many activities in each area that allow the children to gain skills through out their development. The curriculum also includes the “The Whole Language” and “Math Their Way” programs.
The class is designed so that the children can achieve success repeatedly, therefore helping them gain a positive self-concept. Also, the children are taught conflict resolution techniques to help them gain positive coping skills and peer interactions. The class is a safe and nurturing environment, which enables the children to feel good about themselves. With the support and encouragement they receive, they have the opportunity to explore and learn each day.
The Pre-K classroom is designed to prepare each student for Kindergarten. By the end of the school year, they will be able to write their names and know 10 words by sight. They will be able to recognize the alphabet, shapes, colors, and numbers. They are exposed to stories, music, and science daily. The basic math skills that the children learn in the Pre-K class will help them recognize numbers between 1 and 100 as well as the basic concept of addition and subtraction. They will also know the entire alphabet, including upper and lowercase letters and the basics of telling time.
The focus of this group, as it is with all of our children is the belief in "Karma" – if you are good to others they will be good to you. We understand that the children will have 16 more years of academic education it is our job to give them a good basic foundation for the future.
Our goal is to provide an atmosphere and learning environment for children that will ease the minds of parent’s while they are at work.
